Behind the Wheel Training

1. ​Take the written permit test at the DMV.
2. Call ABC & schedule your first, 2-hour Behind the Wheel Driving (BTW) lesson. 
3. Sign and submit the Student Agreement.
4. During your first driving lesson (2 hours) and after 1st payment is received, your instructor will validate and sign your permit.  
5. Remember to schedule your 2nd driving lesson about 1 to 2 months after your first lesson.
6. After 50 hours of behind the wheel training, your parent or guardian will sign your permit.  See Teen Driver Tips for more information.
7. Make an appointment with the DMV for your Behind the Wheel test.
8. As soon as you have your Behind the Wheel test scheduled at the DMV, call us to set up your final driving lesson (2 hours).
9. Once you have completed and paid for 6 hours total (3×2 hour lessons), your instructor will issue you a Certificate of Completion for Driver’s Training.
10. After passing the DMV Behind the Wheel driving test, you will receive a provisional driver’s license.

Limitations of Provisional Driver's License

• The Provisional Driver’s license is valid for 1 year of driving OR until the driver turns 18.
  
• The provisional license imposes the following restrictions:
  
• * You may NOT drive between 11pm and 5am
  
• * You may NOT drive with anyone under the age of 20 as a passenger unless accompanied by a parent or licensed driver 25 yrs or older.
